Most Common Types Of Truck Accidents You Must Know

Posted on 16/11/202216/11/2022 by epic

Unfortunately, the number of truck accidents has been increasing daily. The increasing number of truck accidents is often related to negligence and disobedience of traffic laws. If you have been a victim of a truck accident and you suspect the driver on the other side was negligent, it will be necessary for you to hire a truck accident attorney for legal purposes.

Besides hiring an attorney to build a legal case against the responsible party, you should also be aware of the common types of truck accidents. Being familiar with the kind of accidents can help you in preventing them.

Types of truck accidents you must be aware of:

  1. Truck rollover

A truck rollover can be one of the deadliest types of accidents one can come across. Large trucks and tractor-trailers have a higher center of gravity than other vehicles, such as a car. If drivers in such trucks take sharp turns or drive too fast, the trailer might flip and roll the entire truck over.

Every truck must be extra careful when driving around stiff turns or making sudden changes in the truck’s direction. Otherwise, a dangerous hazard can occur for other drivers on the road. You must contact a truck accident lawyer if you happen in a truck rollover accident.

  1. Jackknife accident

A jackknife accident can occur when trucks between the tractor and trailer make improper turns or braking operations. The resulting force from offensive maneuvers can cause the trailer to swing around its pivot point and create a shape resembling a folding jackknife.

A jackknife accident can also occur when a large truck folds in half, forming a 90-degree angle with the trailer. When a truck jackknifes, it can likely drift into other lanes and vehicles of traffic. Such an accident can also block parts of the road while rolling in half, leading to further accidents.

  1. Blind spot accidents

Not only trucks but every vehicle has blind spots that a driver must be aware of. Trucks can have more prominent blind spots. Typically, a truck with a blind spot will be indicated by “No Man’s Land.” In such cases, you must pay attention to such signs and avoid driving near the vehicle entirely.

  1. Tire blowouts

Tire blowouts can occur with trucks when a driver is not diligent about checking the tires and their pressure before driving. When a truck’s tire blows out, it can force the truck in a specific direction and put other vehicles at extreme risk of a crash.
